After working around the old cowboy for what it would take to be a Montana cowboy. The Flatlander got the chance to test what he learned at the Hairpin Ranch. But he needed to listen to the Old Cowboys advise. You can never know what an individual will say or do.

When the Kid takes the chance on an Montana adventure. Even though he is having the best of all journeys. A time he will never forget! But life sometimes doesn't allow but regretful endings to that chapter of the Kids life. But that should not keep him from remembering all the great times in the chance taken including the regrets.

-DARYL SHAFFER

I wrote Regrets in part as a Thank You to Mom and Pops for taking the time in helping raising me.  It took me 3 years to write my book, of which I gave them the first signed hardcover copy on their 68th wedding anniversary. I had made a written journal from all the time on the Montana ranches, at the suggestion of the Old Cowboy Walker. Which is what I used to write Regrets: A Flatlanders Story by The Kid to let family and friends know what a Walt Disney type life I had been having working on the Montana Ranches. A dream came true for a Kid that watched all those Westerns, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Bonanza, The Virginian, How the West was Won, The Rifleman etc.. I watched them all. Those movies are in part responsible for who I am today. Fight the good fight. There are so many kids without parents today. that through no fault of their own. Those kids need someone to look up to, a hero. Mine were in the western movies.
